Innovative Aerosystems (IA) Utilities Management System (UMS)

Advanced Utilities Control for Part 23/25 Aircraft and Helicopter Platforms

The Innovative Aerosystems Utilities Management System (UMS) is an open architecture modular avionics solution for Part 23/25 aircraft and helicopter platforms. The UMS monitors aircraft sensors, controls aircraft systems, and is scalable to meet the requirements of virtually any aircraft.

Scalable and Configurable System Control

Designed to reduce cost and complexity, the UMS allows aircraft manufacturers to easily configure system parameters using table-based configuration files and simple control algorithms. This eliminates the need for expensive custom software changes or time-consuming DO-178/DO-254 recertification efforts.

Centralized Maintenance and Monitoring Hub

Functioning as the aircraft’s central maintenance computer, the UMS can support up to six units within its communication ring. By consolidating interfaces and replacing legacy distribution boxes, the UMS significantly reduces aircraft weight, wiring, and power consumption—offering substantial efficiency improvements over federated systems.

Integrated Data Recording and Analysis

The UMS features solid-state mass storage with high-speed SATA interface, enabling robust data capture of both critical and non-critical flight parameters. Data is stored in non-volatile memory and can be accessed via standard Ethernet interface for seamless offboard analysis.

Certified for the Most Demanding Aviation Environments

The UMS meets Level A Design Assurance for hardware and software and is fully compliant with RTCA DO-178B and DO-254 standards, ensuring reliable performance in mission-critical aerospace environments.
