Integrated Global Navigation System for Boeing 757 & 767

RNP & RNAV Upgrade Without MMR Replacement

The Integrated Global Navigation System (IGNS) is a certified, cost-efficient solution for adding Global Positioning System (GPS) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP AR-capable) navigation to Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 aircraft. This advanced package integrates seamlessly with existing OEM Flight Management Systems (FMS)—eliminating the lengthy downtime and high expense of Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR) upgrades.

Enhanced Navigation Performance & Compliance

RNP (Required Navigation Performance) requires precise onboard navigation performance monitoring and alerting. With RNP, the system must maintain the specified accuracy at least 95% of the time within designated airspace, routes, or procedures—while continuously monitoring Actual Navigation Performance (ANP) and alerting the crew if performance degrades.

Adding RNP and RNAV Approach capabilities expands airport access, enabling pilots to fly into more runways with improved efficiency—reducing flight times, hold times, and fuel consumption.

Key Advantages:

  • Expand Airport Access – Adds RNP, AR, and RNAV approaches for greater operational flexibility.
  • Seamless Integration – Designed to work with existing OEM FMS as an add-on to the IA Flat Panel Display System (FPDS).
  • High-Precision Positioning – Blends GPS, Inertial Reference Unit (IRU), and radio data for maximum accuracy.
  • Low-Impact Installation – Upgrade with minimal downtime and schedule disruption.

Precision GPS & Pilot-Friendly Display Integration

The IGNS leverages precision GPS and Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS/WAAS) for industry-leading position accuracy. The system updates position data five times per second.

When integrated with an existing IA FPDS, pilots see intuitive annunciations directly on their Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), including:

  • Selected Navigation Source
  • Default or pilot-entered RNP
  • Calculated ANP
  • Digital cross-track error
  • Lateral and vertical deviation indicators

System Components

The IA IGNS package includes:

  • Two IA GPS Beta 3 Sensor Units
  • One GNS Control Switch
  • Complete installation kit

Note: FPDS displays and Data Concentrator Units (DCUs) are returned to Innovative Aerosystems for software updates as part of the installation.

Operational Benefits

  • Economic RNP & RNAV compliance
  • Greater airport and airspace access
  • Reliable, predictable flight paths
  • Independence from ground-based navigation aids
  • Reduced flight and holding times
  • Shorter, more efficient routing
  • Significant fuel savings
